“The initial inspiration for creating Electric Wood Extrait with Jérôme Di Marino came from an iconic image of Jimi Hendrix setting his guitar on fire on stage. That moment says it all,the passion, the rebellion, the sensuality of sound turned into flame. When I spoke to Jérôme about the idea of lacquer melting and caramelizing, he immediately understood. The very first trial was perfect, which almost never happens. And why vanilla? Because Gibson guitars are coated with a specific lacquer that naturally gives off a subtle vanilla note, the scent that started it all, when I opened my first guitar case at eleven years old. In this Extrait, cardamom, saffron, and nutmeg crackle like the caramelized crust of a crème brûlée, while orris and myrrh melt into a creamy, resinous heart. The base of cedar, vetiver, and vanilla smolders like a guitar burning on stage.”
