The most recent release from Goldfield & Banks takes us to Tasmania to witness an awe inspiring moment under the night sky appreciating the Aurora Australis. On first spray of Mystic Bliss there is a slight warmth and then the icy tone of frankincense, mint and clary sage. They weave together and create a wonderful air of mystery. It feels like a cold night in nature, under the breathtaking night sky. Frankincense paired with clary sage gives an esoteric cold and stoney feel which makes this scent mystifying as it opens. You can imagine sitting in a small, rustic, cemetery in the middle of nowhere, star gazing. The aromatic country breeze that is cool on the skin but there are undertones of warmth that feels both contradictory but also comforting. This is not a creepy, dark imagining of a cemetery, it is more a celebration of nature, life and death. It’s cold yet warm, sharp but soft. You could imagine this moment leading to a pagan full moon ceremony. The luscious sparkles of greenery from the geranium, fig and mint; then the hero of the fragrance - kunzea, has a fresh and medicinal herbal tone that ensures you feel very much grounded in the Australian landscape throughout the ritual. Of course, as well as kunzea, there are aromatic herbs being burnt as a symbolic offering to Mother Nature with clary sage, cardamom and pink pepper. Frankincense continues to smolder in the background throughout. As the fragrance settles, caramel and sandalwood lend a sweet depth and another interesting dimension to this unique fragrance blend. Mystic Bliss is a scent of wonder and adoration for the grandeur of Mother Nature. A scent that not only embodies light and dark, but celebrates it too.
