One of our most popular (and perhaps favourite) launches of 2024. Wavechild has wild energy. Youthful, playful, with a little sexy grit. As a fragrance house inspired by rock n roll, Room 1015 explores the connection between music and scent. Wavechild, however, is a slight detour from music (but we’ll get to our interpretation later), it’s a moment in time and captures the essence of a group of people.

Those people? The surfers and the skaters at Huntington Beach in LA, specifically in the early 90’s. This scent stands specifically in that moment of time, referencing fragrance notes that were popular in the 90’s, but pulls it into 2024, meaning it’s somehow both relevant and nostalgic. That’s most likely why so many people, including us at Lore, have fallen in love with it. Wavechild has the perfect amount of sentimentality mixed with innovation.

It opens with a burst of pulpy, fruity, sweet juiciness, slightly tart and super invigorating. But then after it’s sat on the skin for a bit, you’ll begin to pick up some creamy, earthy undertones that provide depth and slightly temper the sweetness. The cacao, coconut and ambroxan create this fluffy base for the summer-y watermelon note. It also has the childhood redolence of a spider drink - an effervescent fruity soft drink over creamy, smooth vanilla ice cream.

Wavechild gives cheeky and lovable energy, bright neon colours, naughty antics by the beach, sweet coconut scented skin under the hot California sun. If it has a musical reference (like the rest of Room 1015), we are officially branding it as the scent of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It’s giving us the essence of their chaotic, mischievous, funk rock, surfer vibe in the early 90’s. It’s the energy and anticipation of their first widely acclaimed record releasing in 91, it’s that quintessential 90’s note of watermelon mixed with salty, sweaty, sunkissed skin on stage. It encompasses more than just the scent we can imagine them wearing, it's the spirit of their energy.
