The Tale

Perhaps one of the most unique florals you’ll try in this advent calendar, or perhaps, anywhere! Map of the Heart’s v.6 The Pink Heart - The Heart of Ecstasy, is a fascinating fragrance. Created by one of our favourite Australian perfume houses, Map of the Heart, this fragrance is inspired by The Lotus Eaters from Homer’s Odyssey. A group of people consumed with living totally hedonistic lives of pleasure and luxury, all from eating the mythological flowers on the lotus tree.

Buckle up, it's a wild ride! The Pink Heart provides a moment of olfactory hallucination; the result of smelling a flower that comes from another dimension. To us, this fragrance is that moment when Alice falls down the rabbit hole. One sniff, and you’ve been transported to Wonderland!

Opening with a green, herbaceous spiciness that is both foreign and intriguing, v.6 begins with shiso leaf, basil, and neroli.

As it settles, the white floral notes add a creaminess that softens and smooths the intense greenery of the opening. Now you can detect the softly enticing fragrance of white florals like jasmine with a little sparkle of sumac, before descending into the deep, dark base notes. Familiar as these notes may be, this is still an alien flower whose scent we cannot quite pinpoint.

The Heart of Ecstasy sways between sticky and dry, and it's hard to know where it will land for each wearer. For one wearer it may be  sticky white flower petals and the honeyed tones of broom and for another it is dried spices and tobacco. We think is all part of the fun of wearing this fragrance though, it’s different for everyone, much like a psychedelic trip.
