If you need to know what’s in it, it’s not for you.
The Tale
The enchanted garden’s greenery is so verdant it almost seems to glow in the warm light of the sun. Lyssan finds herself surrounded by herbs, flowers, trees and shrubbery.

But look, we’re definitely going to speculate! You or Someone Like You is from the iconic perfume house Etat Libre d’Orange, a French house that’s all about freedom of expression. Responsible for some of the weirder and wilder scents in the niche perfume world, Etat Libre d’Orange is renowned for pushing boundaries. While the brand is known for some polarising scents, You or Someone Like You is actually incredibly likable. The concept behind this fragrance is the lure and allure of Los Angeles, the City of Angels, and the promise of dreams. A collaboration between Etat Libre d’Orange and perfume critic and novelist Chandler Burr, You or Someone Like you is named after Burr’s novel of the same name. While named after the novel, this fragrance is not about what any place, scene or character in the book smells like, but more generally (and conceptually), what Burr imagined the quintessential LA woman would smell like. The important thing to note about this fragrance is that it has none. Listed notes that is. What it smells like is completely up for interpretation. It’s objective, yet subversive, just like the women of LA.
So what does she smell like to us? Mint! Upon first spritz we’re smacked with the aroma of freshly picked mint, a little citrus and perhaps a hint of white flowers. As the mint settles, there are fresher, greener notes of perhaps cassis that create a slight sharp tone on the skin. There is maybe even the dampness of crushed green leaves. Whatever the notes, there is no denying that this scent is an utter burst of energy, full of life and zest. And green. So green. A vibrant shade of green, like the greenery of the Hollywood Hills. Lush, verdant and full of hope.
