As the story unfolds, the book takes on a life (and scent) of its own.
The Tale
The room fills with a dazzling light, and Lyssan watches the Nightingale turn into its true, previous form, a sprite named Seraphin.
NOTES
Fig, Iris, Cream, Tonka, Tree Bark, Walnut Bitters, Orchard Dust
In true Imaginary Authors fashion, Yesterday Haze is a fig fragrance but it’s unlike any fig you’ve tried, they keep it quirky. As with all of the fragrances in the Imaginary Authors collection, Yesterday Haze weaves a compelling storyline. It tells the story of the farmer’s wife, who, after a decade long love affair with her husband’s crop duster, decides to tell all. The name Yesterday Haze perfectly sums up how this fragrance smells. A dusty haze of nostalgia, a memory of love.
We get the sweet juiciness of fig when we first spray Yesterday Haze, but it’s perfectly balanced with the quirky notes of orchard dust, walnut bitters and tree bark to create a gorgeous earthy dustiness. Akin to one of the final days of summer at the magic moment as the sun starts to dip, this scent smells like dusk. Autumn is stirring and the greens in nature are slowly turning orange. The sun is setting on what has been a summer full of memories, but it’s not over - Yesterday Haze promises a new adventure. While some people liken this scent to that of old paper and subsequently books (and we can see the resemblance), it also captures the scent of a dusty forgotten room in an airy old farmhouse. It’s on the second floor with sweeping views and as you begin to explore the beautiful wooden treasures and memories, you open the window and get a late summer evening breeze of fig trees and earth wafting through the room. Once we get to enjoy the scent of green, juicy fig, our senses go wild as a whipped cream takes over and brings a fun playfulness. Bitter walnut and iris completely transform our scent once again and as this fragrance settles. The woodsy base is beautifully grounding and we are left with a scent that is perfectly described as a glorious haze.
This fragrance is creamy, earthy, skin like and clean, yet subtly gourmand. It’s wearable in so many different contexts, because love, and the memories of it, is universal.
